The novel opens in the summer of 1968, as the city is still reeling from the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The white family, the Ryans, has just moved to Grant Park from the suburbs. The black family, the Jacksons, has been living in the neighborhood for generations. And the Latino family, the Rodriguezes, is new to the United States.

As the novel progresses, we follow the families as they struggle to make a life in Grant Park. The Ryans try to fit in with their new neighbors, but they are often met with hostility. The Jacksons are proud of their neighborhood, but they are also aware of its problems. And the Rodriguezes are trying to build a new life for themselves in a foreign country.

Despite their differences, the families in Grant Park are all connected by their shared experiences. They all want to find a place where they can belong. They all want to live in a safe and prosperous neighborhood. And they all want to be treated with respect.

Grant Park is a timely and important novel that explores the complex issues of race, class, and the American Dream. It is a story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.
