I first arrived in Cambodia in 2006, a wide-eyed 22-year-old backpacker fresh out of university. I had no idea what to expect, but I was excited to explore this new country and learn about its culture. I spent two weeks traveling around Cambodia, visiting the temples of Angkor Wat, the Killing Fields, and the Tonle Sap lake. I met many friendly and welcoming people along the way, and I was impressed by the country's rich history and culture.

I returned to Cambodia in 2010, this time as a volunteer English teacher. I spent six months living in a small village in the countryside, teaching English to children and adults. I got to know the local people well, and I learned a lot about their lives and their culture. I also had the opportunity to travel around the country, visiting some of the more remote areas. I was amazed by the beauty of the Cambodian countryside, and I was impressed by the resilience of the Cambodian people.

I left Cambodia in 2011, but I never forgot my time there. I have always felt a connection to the country and its people. In 2016, I returned to Cambodia for the third time, this time as a journalist. I spent three months traveling around the country, writing articles about the people, the culture, and the history. I was able to revisit some of the places I had visited on my previous trips, and I was also able to explore some new areas. I was once again impressed by the beauty of the country and the warmth of the people.

Cambodia is a country that has undergone a lot of change in recent years. It has been through a civil war, a genocide, and a period of political instability. But despite all of this, the Cambodian people have remained resilient. They are proud of their country and their culture, and they are determined to build a better future for themselves and their children.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have visited Cambodia three times. It is a country that has had a profound impact on my life. I have learned a lot about myself, about the world, and about the human spirit. I believe that Cambodia is a country that is on the rise. It has a lot to offer the world, and I am excited to see what the future holds for this beautiful country.

If you are interested in learning more about Cambodia, I encourage you to read my book, Half a Million Miles from Home. It is a personal and reflective account of my journey to this amazing country. I hope that my book will inspire you to visit Cambodia and experience its beauty and culture for yourself.

Thank you for reading.
